This is a great energy smoothie that is the perfect breakfast smoothie or works just as well in the afternoon to beat that 3pm energy slump.
If you find yourself drinking three or four cups of coffee in a morning to get yourself going then this energy smoothie can be the perfect replacement for some of that coffee. This is a gluten free, dairy free and sugar free smoothie, if you are okay with dairy or gluten then you can replace the protein powder with your usual one and the almond milk with your favourite milk.
Green smoothies can sometimes be an acquired taste but because of the addition of mango, this is a green smoothie that tastes fantastic! We have used spinach in this smoothie. We like the boost of iron gained from spinach but you can substitute this for Kale or any of your favourite leafy greens.

Ingredients
-
1 x Banana peeled (fresh or Frozen)
-
1 x Mango chopped (fresh or frozen)
-
1 x Packed Cup of baby spinach leaves
-
1 x ½ fresh avocado
-
1 x Scoop of Protein Powder - We like ‘Amazonia Raw Paleo Fermented Protein’
-
1 x Tsp Ground Cinnamon
-
1 x Tsp of either Ground Ginger or a thumb size of sliced fresh ginger
-
1 x Tbsp Coconut Yoghurt either Vanilla or Mango flavour - you can use greek yoghurt if you are okay with dairy.
-
1 x Cup of Almond or any nut milk
-
½ -1 Cup of Water or Ice if not using Frozen Fruit.
Directions
- This is a quick easy smoothie that takes no time at all to prepare, we make ours in a nutribullet but any blender will do. Chop your banana and mango if not already chopped and frozen, place spinach or green leaves into a blender first, then add the mango, avocado and banana.
Next add the protein powder, this can be any brand you prefer, vanilla flavoured protein powder works best with this smoothie. Add the cinnamon and ginger to suit your taste then add the coconut yoghurt, again we like either vanilla flavour or mango flavoured coconut yoghurt. Then add your favourite nut milk and ½ - 1 cup of cold water (preferably filtered) or Ice depending on how thick you like your smoothie. Put the lid on the blender and blend for 1 minute or until smooth.
This energy smoothie can be of a runny consistency so that it is easy to drink depending on how much fluid you use. It also works great with less fluid so that it is thicker like thick yoghurt, you can eat it from a bowl and add your favourite fruit and granola to the top, the perfect breakfast!
