These energy protein balls are so easy and quick to make, they are the perfect healthy snack when you are short on time or feeling that 3pm energy nose dive. Our energy protein balls keep really well so can be popped into your lunch box for a great energy boost at work or when you are out and about.
Simple and quick to make with just 7 ingredients with a similar taste to cookie dough, how can that be a bad thing! Our protein balls can also be popped in the freezer from freshly made so you can batch make lots of them and have them in the freezer for whenever you need them.
Our no bake energy balls are nutty, sweet and extremely tasty, they are also nutritious with no added sugar. Peanut butter is a fantastic source of protein and is also packed with vitamins and minerals such as magnesium, zinc, iron and potassium to name a few. You can swap out normal chocolate chips for vegan or dairy free chocolate chips if you want the energy balls to be vegan or dairy free.

Ingredients
-
1 ½ cups of Rolled Oats - we used Gluten Free Oats
-
1 ½ cups of Peanut Butter - thick variety
-
¾ cup honey or maple syrup
-
½ cup of Vanilla or Chocolate Protein Powder
-
¼ Cup of Chia seeds
-
⅓ Cup of Chocolate Chips
-
A Pinch of Salt
Directions
- In a large mixing bowl or food mixer put the peanut butter, oats, honey, chocolate chips, Chia seeds, protein powder and salt. Stir well until completely combined.
Line a baking tray with baking paper and with either a spoon or an ice cream scoop, scoop the mixture onto the baking paper into separate little mounds, you need enough mixture to make the balls at least 3-4 cm in diameter.
Once all the mixture is on the tray roll each mound of mixture into balls by hand, to stop the mixture sticking to your hands you can wet them slightly to start.
When you have rolled all the dough into your desired size and shape of balls, leave them on the baking tray and baking paper and place them in the fridge for 1-2 hours or until firm to touch. Then remove them from the tray and place them either in an airtight container or in the freezer to be eaten at a later date.
We love to roll our energy balls in a little desiccated coconut, they taste fabulous like this but also look great!
